Junio 8, 2009 (en inglés)

Dear brothers and sisters,You have been very kind to read our "newsletters" and to be praying for us. We are SO thankful for you!

If you don't have much time to read through this, let there be ONE request in your heart: please pray for each of the girls' salvation. These girls' situations (each one) is SO sad, so devastating, so miserable. The physical, sexual and verbal abuse that these girls have experienced and/or experience on a daily basis has scarred them profoundly. The devil is doing what he knows what to do best: destroy. He is destroying them---so painfully, so maliciously, so singlemindedly. Only Jesus, our Mighty King and Savior, can defeat the devil and his influence on these girls' lives.

Praise the Lord for:
**Advice we have received over the past weeks from different people as to how to act with more wisdom, care and safety.
**For the way the Lord sends encouragement when we need it.

Please pray:
**The Lord would sustain and increase our zeal and perseverance as we labor. We have been discouraged over the past weeks. We have also become distracted from these ladies' main problem. As we try to meet their other needs, we don't want to forget the centrality of the Gospel nor its power. We don't want to run away from His calling;we want our love for Jesus to increase ten-fold so that it overflows in love for each of these girls.

**Wisdom, spiritual intelligence--If there's one lesson we've been learning is:know the people you're serving, know them well; try to understand their culture (which is in MANY ways, SOO different from ours, even though we're from the same country); it's been a challenge to try to get inside these girls' heads and understand them. There's SO much we don't know and want to learn.

**Literacy/bible study: That the two girls interested in learning how to read and write would show up at the place we've set to pick them up and bring them to where we're teaching them to read. We'll also use that time to share the Scriptures with them. It is better to share God's Word in that setting than in their place of work. They didn't come last Thursday. They are very forgetful and honestly, they don't have a far-reaching vision. So, learning to read is not a top priority for them. So please pray for those classes.

**Wisdom to know how to single them out and reach out to them individually and not as a group. Each girl has her individual set of problems, needs and questions. We must not see them all together as one, as a group. The only thing that binds them together is their work. But they are not really friends; they don't trust each other. To seek to talk to them as if they were all the same is not effective. So how do we go about reaching out to each? We're praying for that. Please pray the Lord would show us.

**That the Lord would provide a sister who having been a prostitute, would be able to encourage us and act as our advisor as we relate to these ladies.Someone with experience told us we should be praying for this. The Lord knows whether that really is necessary and helpful. If it is, then, let's ask Him to provide it.
A.M.
